Fixing Broken Britain

Demanding Government of the people, by the people, for the people!

That’s The Ticket

Posted by Ken Marshall On It's now time to unseat the arrogant!

j0409469_sjnd I am writing my manifesto.

Now that I have decided to stand as a Member of Parliament at the next general election I had better reveal the ticket that I intend to stand on.

Rather than overwhelm my readers with everything at once I have decided to publish one issue at a time.

While I will also keep these posts abridged I will be putting together a manifesto document in time for the campaign when it begins.

So, here is the first edited issue. Please feel free to comment as feedback is important.

Crime and Punishment

  1. To stop treating criminals as victims.
  2. Punishment to fit the crime. Prisons to be prioritised for those who possess the ability and inclination to harm the law abiding.
  3. That will mean a minimum prison term of life (and for it to mean life) for all found guilty of: Terrorism; Murder; Rape; Paedophilia; Drug Dealing; Armed Robbery; Knife Crime.
  4. Plea-bargaining no longer possible-life will always mean life. The public have a right for their government to protect them and their families from harm or potential harm.
  5. People committing lesser crimes (i.e. do not pose physical safety threat to others) to be dealt with in other ways besides prison. We need to bring the justice system into the 21st century.
  6. This will free up prison space for the dangerous. These lesser offenders will receive punishment such as losing freedom privileges with the removal of passport, driving licence, curfews etc. and also having to carry out constructive and meaningful work; to receive appropriate assistance for rehabilitation and support.
  7. Those found guilty of fraud and embezzlement to pay all monies taken illegally with the seizure of their property if necessary. All property gained through embezzled funds to be confiscated.
  8. Cease performance targets for police along with the reduction of all bureaucracy and put more police on the beat. To have Chief Constables made more accountable with the introduction of Chief Constable elections for each police region.

Next issue will be Dealing with the Drug Problem and will be published soon.

Ken has had a keen interest in politics since a teenager and remembers the heady days when there was a detectable difference between Labour and Tory policies. This blog came about as a means to voice an opinion of what could happen and what should happen according to Ken.
