How Guilty Is Your MP?

Check out the BBC website just how guilty your MP was when it came to fleecing the hard working tax payer.
It lists all the MPs by political party and when you click on the name you are taken to a page that gives you their photograph and highlights what they have claimed for.
For instance the Conservative MP David Davis his claim reads:
The former shadow home secretary David Davis reportedly claimed for more than £10,000 of home renovations and furnishings, including a new £5,700 portico at his home in Yorkshire.
He then responds with:
Mr Davis told the Telegraph he had the new portico built to deal with “severe water damage” and it had been replaced on “a like for like basis”. Later he told the BBC: “I claimed more than £5,000 less then the maximum last year. That’s not the action of somebody trying to maximise their income on this or make money out of it or play the system or whatever you like – that’s why I would like to see a much more rigorous system.”
My question would be this; How is a portico essential to you carrying out your work as an MP? And has any worker, anywhere, ever had a business expenses claim for house renovations accepted? Come to think of it, would they have even contemplated trying to claim it in the first place?
Guilty!

Ken has had a keen interest in politics since a teenager and remembers the heady days when there was a detectable difference between Labour and Tory policies.
This blog came about as a means to voice an opinion of what could happen and what should happen according to Ken.
